Home hair removal treatments have made a pretty big impact on my life. It took a little bit of time and effort on my part, but paid off pretty quickly, and now I don’t spend any money on razors or shaving cream. I don’t see any signs of the hair growing back, either, so the machines sit quietly in my closet now. I’ve tried both of the FDA cleared products of this type, and I’ve given both of them good reviews. To be fair, I think the technology in and of itself is something of a miracle, and I’d probably buy either unit again. Of course, you only really need one, so many of my readers have been wondering which device is the best value for the money. Well, here’s my take on the whole Tria Vs Silk’n Sensepil issue.
Tria Vs Silk’n Sensepil #1: Which Is Easier To Use?
Both units use the same basic technology, though Tria calls theirs a laser while Silk’n refers to it as Home Pulse Light. Either way, you’re hitting the root of the hair follicle with a blast of light that kills it, preventing it from growing back later. Both devices are dead simple to use, the main step being to hold a light against your skin, but the Tria is a little bit easier for a couple of reasons. For one thing, the Tria is one, compact handheld unit, while the Silk’n SensEpil is a handheld unit tethered to a larger machine that powers it. This means it’s EASIER to get the TRIA to reach different parts of your body. Furthermore, the Tria works automatically when you put it to your skin, so you don’t have to keep pressing the button hundreds of times like with the SensEpil.
Tria Laser Vs Silk’n #2: Which Is The Safer Device?
This one is easy. Since both the Tria and the Silk’n SensEpil are built around the same type of technology, you can rest assured that you’re completely safe using either one. There is minimal risk of burning with some skin types, but both units have a feature built in that checks your skin tone before allowing you to even use the device. If you’re not within the limits, it won’t work (don’t worry, though, both units have a money back guarantee). In the Tria Vs Silk’n debate, there is no clear winner in this category.
Tria Laser Hair Removal Vs Silk’n Sensepil #3: Which Is Faster To Use?
The speed at which you can use either device against your skin depends on how big the laser or light is, and how powerful it is. Think of it as being able to shave faster with a wider, sharper razor. In this category, the Silk’n comes out ahead. The light is a bit wider than the Tria’s laser, and it seems a little bit more powerful. However, this extra power comes at a small price, as we’ll see later in this comparison.
In terms of how long you will be using either one until you’re hair free, it’s hard for me to say exactly since I used them on different parts of my body. It took each one about 10 months to get rid of all the hair, though if you added up the time of each session, I am sure the Silk’n SensEpil took quite a bit less of my time. It did take me 8 weeks (4 sessions) to notice real results with the Tria, though, and only about 2 WEEKS with the SensEpil. I have pretty coarse hair, so my experiences were slightly longer than average, in either case. You can read in more detail about how long my treatments took with the Silk’n SensEpil by reading my complete SensEpil review. Tria Laser Hair Removal Vs Silk’n #4: Which Is The Least Painful?
I really do feel it’s safe to call either unit painless, though I guess it’s fair to talk about the potential for pain. Turned up to it’s highest setting, the Silk’n SensEpil does feel a little more uncomfortable, though it still really isn’t painful, exactly. If you’re worried at all about it, just remember that both units have different settings, so you can use it at your comfort level. If you’ve got more sensitive skin than most, you can use either one at a lower setting. The Tria might be a little gentler because of the smaller laser, meaning less of your skin gets hit at once. Keep in mind this also means you will take you a little longer to complete each session.
Tria Vs Sensepil #5: Which Gives You The Best Results?
Asking which unit gives the best results, the Tria or the Silk’n SensEpil, is a little bit like asking which is better, hair free or hairless? It’s tough to argue when the results are complete success in either case. If you really forced me to pick one, I’d probably tell you that I liked the interim results of the Tria a little bit better. It seemed like the hair regrowth was just the slightest, tiniest bit more even, though this could have been entirely due to user error on my part (oops!), or the fact that I used each product on different parts of my body. Either one will give you the ultimate effect you desire, though.
Tria Vs Silk’n #6: Which Is The Cheapest?
If you don’t have extra money to spend, the Tria is the clear choice, since it’s about a hundred dollars cheaper through the Official Tria Website. They both offer deals to get them at lower than their list price (you can get the SensEpil for $100 the $499 list price by visiting this special page at the Silkn website), but the Tria is still considerably more affordable. They both have money back guarantees and payment plans, so it’s a safe and easy investment regardless of which product you choose.
The Final Verdict
With only two of these types of products on the market, it’s a little surprising that there aren’t more Tria Vs Silk’n comparisons out there. Their features are very similar, and their end results the same, but my personal preference and recommendation would be for the Tria. It takes a little bit longer to finish each session, but it’s a lot easier to use, I think, and the price is a major selling point, as well. If you’re in a big hurry all the time and don’t mind being tethered to an electrical outlet, the Silk’n SensEpil is probably for you, but most users will be happy with the Tria.
These devices aren’t exactly cheap and it’s important you get all the facts before you decide which to invest in.
